At long last! Vegas In Space action dolls are coming! Help us bring this dream to life!

Kickstarter Launches July 10

Back this project

We have ALWAYS needed Vegas In Space movie toys, and now Doris Fish Forever presents the ultimate collector’s set of poseable drag queen dolls!
The set includes Doris Fish as Captain Tracey Daniels in both her iconic red spacesuit and her glamourous Beauty Booster Finale costume! Miss X as Queen Veneer, the ruthless head of the Clitorian Fashion Police! Introducing “Tippi” as Princess Angel, the scheming robot doll stealing the precious ‘Girlinium’ jewels!

Doris Fish Forever is pleased to announce the July 10 launch of a Kickstarter campaign to finance officially licensed 8 inch Action Dolls inspired by the beloved 1991 LGBTQ cult movie classic ‘Vegas In Space’, co-created by Doris Fish (1952-1991), Miss X, and Phillip R Ford.

The Kickstarter runs for 30 days and will finance production of a set of four articulated, clothed figures with the goal to deliver to product backers by December of this year. Stretch goals for additional characters will be offered.

Created by artist and transgender activist Robyn Adams, the founder of both Mego Museum and Doris Fish Forever, this project brings together her love of 1970s 8-inch action figures and her passion project archiving and celebrating the life and work of Australian drag pioneer Doris Fish and her group the Sluts A Go-Go.

Manufactured by White Elephant Toys (Adventure Command, Lincoln Monsters, the Official Tura Santana action figure) and designed with toy industry professionals Andrew Covalt (sculptor for Mego) and Esther Skandunas (costumer for Mattel, Sideshow Collectibles) as well as Mego community artist Jessica Rotich these dolls are “SIMPLY STUNNING,” as Doris Fish would say.

Already the subject of a comprehensive NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING 2023 biography, “Who Does That Bitch Think She Is: Doris Fish and the Rise of Drag”, the making of Doris Fish’s Vegas In Space (co-written with Miss X and film director Phillip R Ford) has just been optioned for a movie co-written by filmmaker and podcaster Michael Varrati and by drag superstar Peaches Christ, who will also direct.

The 1991 film is also slated to be restored and released on 4k Blu-Ray by Troma Entertainment, the original distributors of the film, which was shown at both the Cannes and Sundance film festivals.

Our Motto: “GLAMOUR FIRST! GLAMOUR LAST! GLAMOUR ALWAYS!”

These 8 Inch tall fully pose-able action figure dolls are modern updates of the popular pop culture action figures of the 1970s (AKA “Mego Style”). They come with 17 points of articulation, 2 different body styles, multiple hands, and an ever growing list of interchangeable accessories.

With a head sculpt by veteran toy industry pro Andrew Covalt, the figure has a stunning facial likeness of Doris, perfectly capturing her trademark blend of masculine and feminine. Outfit prototypes from freelance doll costume fabricator Esther Skandunas bring high quality design and tailoring that elevates the wardrobe beyond the “retro” standard; without sacrificing the toy friendly color and simplicity.

These are a decades-long dream for Mego Museum founder and Doris Fish Forever director Robyn Adams, who brings the project to life with all her talents as an artist and designer with a taste for bright bold colors and vintage toy packaging. Designed and produced in consultation with film surviving co-creator Miss X and director/producer Phillip R Ford, these officially licensed dolls celebrate their legacy and enduring impact on queer culture and cinema.

We know these are tough times for our LGBTQ+ community and allies, and we hope that this project reminds us all to celebrate our INCREDIBLE HISTORY and express our QUEER JOY! GLAMOUR IS RESISTANCE! GLAMOUR FIRST, GLAMOUR LAST, GLAMOUR ALWAYS!!

Help us spread the word and share with drag fans, doll collectors, cult movie fanatics and anyone who is fierce and fabulous!
