Doris Fish shows off her incredible drag style at the 422 Oak St apartment, then walks in heels to The Mint gay bar on Market street. She is seen at the end of the film with Greg Foss (Ginger Quest) who filmed most of this.
The Mint opened as a gay bar in 1968, transitioned to a karaoke lounge in 1993, and is one of the oldest gay bars in the Castro area to operate under the same name.

This Polaroid was taken the same day as the previous reel at The Mint mechanical bull event, circa 1981, an incredible picture of Greg Foss and Doris Fish in a delightful outfit with a fantastic color palette. She loved hippie accessories like this giant peace sign necklace.
Greg was a huge fan of the Sluts A Go-Go, attending their play “Blonde Sin” so often they became friends and he fed the starving artists at late night dinners at his apartment at 422 Oak Street. Soon, Doris was seeing clients at the apartment and then she moved in as roommate. Greg was soon recruited into drag as Ginger Quest, he hosted the Vegas In Space party and became a star in the movie of the same name filmed in his living room. He joined the cast of Naked Brunch and was featured in the Happy Hour shows at Club 181. A photography enthusiast, he captured many candid moments of this early drag history and allowed me to scan nearly 400 photos to the dorisfish.com archive, in addition to his 8mm film and massive Betamax collection .
