While the quality of the video is not great, this is nonetheless a legendary event for the Sluts A Go-Go. The pageant came in between the shooting of Vegas in Space and began promotion and fundraising for the movie. First rushes were shown and the universe of outer space queens came to life with hilarious results.
Doris Fish’s Miss Solar System Pageant Poster Design
The poster for this show is one of Doris’ unsung masterpieces, and thankfully, Miss X saved not only the finished production art but has the sketchbook showing the development of the piece. The production piece is very high level graphic design technique of the time, with shades of grey gouache and black ink. The text is very precisely rendered and the illustration is tight, yet loose and sensitive. The sketches show her thinking process and her quick and confident drawing.
