The incredible picture on the left was published in In Touch magazine in October 1982, photographer as yet unknown. It was submitted by a follower on our Instagram and shows Doris having maniacal, riotous fun with hunky leather men in the San Francisco nightclub the I-Beam. Located on Haight street, the I-Beam was one of the original gay discos. This performance was part of the International Mr. Drummer leather man competition.

Months after the magazine picture was submitted, we then found four more images from that night in Greg Foss’ personal collection, photographs he took himself. They are such a delight to see.

Her look is fantastic, she really knows how to use color! The pink of the hair and green of the eyeshadow perfectly compliment each other, with the lavender costume pulling the look together. This must have been a really wild performance.
